Terms of Use
These terms govern the use of Synt, the study app for iOS and Android that turns your notes, PDFs, photos, web pages and videos into summaries, quizzes, flashcards and study plans, and of its websites synt.app and app.synt.app, the web version of Synt (together, the «Service»). Please read them carefully. By downloading or using Synt you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
The Service is provided by Roberto Díaz Badra – Disruptive Normality, a self-employed developer based in Spain («we», «us»). Contact: info@synt.app
2. Who can use Synt
Synt is intended for users aged 18 or over. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you can accept this agreement.
3. What Synt does and your account
Synt lets you send text, PDFs, photos, links to web pages and YouTube videos, and uses artificial intelligence to create summaries, quizzes, flashcards, concept maps, mock exams and study plans from them, and to remind you of your exams. Some features are free with limits and others require a subscription («Synt Pro»). We may add, change or remove features to improve the Service; if a change significantly reduces what you have already paid for, you can cancel and ask for a refund under section 6.
In the app you can start without an account: Synt uses an anonymous ID, so if you delete the app or change device without signing in, your material may be lost. If you sign in (email, Google or Apple), your material is saved to your account and you can use it on other devices and on the web. On the web (app.synt.app) you need an account. Keep your password secret: you are responsible for what is done with your account, and let us know if you think someone is using it without your permission.
One Synt Pro for app and web. If you subscribe in the app or on the web and sign in with the same account, Synt Pro is active in both. Each subscription is still paid, managed and cancelled where you bought it (section 4). In the app you can also recover a store subscription with «Restore purchases» using the same Apple ID or Google account.
4. Subscriptions, free trials and payments
In the app (App Store and Google Play)
- Purchases through the app stores. Subscriptions are sold in the App Store or Google Play and charged to your Apple ID or Google account. The store's terms also apply to your purchase. Prices, including applicable taxes, are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country.
- Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (for example, weekly, monthly or yearly) at the same price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged within the 24 hours before renewal.
- Free trials. If an offer includes a free trial, the subscription starts automatically when the trial ends and you will be charged, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Introductory offers can only be used once, under the store's rules.
- How to cancel. On iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Synt. On Android: open Google Play, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, and choose Synt. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. After cancelling, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Price changes. If we change the price of a subscription, the store will notify you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before charging the new price.
On the web (app.synt.app)
- Payment with Stripe. On the web we sell to you directly and Stripe processes the payment. On your receipt or bank statement you may see «Disruptive Normality», our trade name. Prices are shown before you pay and already include VAT where applicable.
- Free trial. Web plans may include a free trial (usually 3 days; longer with some invitations or offers). The checkout page shows how long it lasts and when the first charge will be made. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and is charged automatically.
- Automatic renewal. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (weekly, monthly or yearly) at the same price and is charged to the same payment method, unless you cancel before the current period ends.
- How to cancel. In app.synt.app, go to Settings → Manage subscription. After cancelling, you keep Synt Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Price changes. If we change the price of the web subscription, we will notify you by email in advance; the new price will apply from the next renewal and you can cancel before then if you do not agree.
5. Invitations, offers and promotional codes
From time to time we offer invitation programmes (for example, a longer trial for the friend you invite and free months of Synt Pro for you when that friend pays), creator offers, promotional codes and offer codes in the App Store. The specific conditions (who can use it, for how long, limits) are shown with each offer. An offer cannot be exchanged for money, and we may refuse or withdraw it if it is obtained fraudulently (for example, with fake accounts). We may change or end a programme at any time, without affecting rewards you have already earned.
6. Refunds and right of withdrawal
Purchases in the app
App payments are processed by Apple or Google, so refunds are requested from them (Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com; Google Play: from your order history) and handled under their policies. We cannot issue refunds for store purchases directly.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have the legal right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days without giving any reason, and you can exercise it through the store, under the rules that apply to your purchase.
Purchases on the web
Web purchases are paid to us, so refunds are requested from us: email info@synt.app from your account's email address.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have 14 days from the start of your subscription to withdraw without giving any reason. Synt Pro is a digital service that starts as soon as you subscribe: by subscribing, you ask us to start providing it straight away, within the withdrawal period. If you withdraw within those 14 days, we will refund what you have paid minus an amount proportional to the service provided until you tell us that you are withdrawing. If you withdraw during a free trial, nothing is charged. To withdraw, just tell us by email; you can use this sentence: «I withdraw from my Synt Pro subscription», with your account's email address.
Withdrawal or not, you keep your legal guarantees: if Synt Pro does not work as described or we charged you by mistake, write to us and we will fix it, with a refund where appropriate. You can cancel renewal at any time (section 4).
Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under consumer law.
7. Your content
- Your content is yours. The text, documents, photos and links you send, and the summaries, quizzes, flashcards and other results created from them («Your Content»), belong to you.
- The permission we need. You allow us and our providers to store, process and transform Your Content only as far as needed to provide the Service to you (for example, to create a summary or sync your material across your devices). We do not use Your Content to show you advertising or to train AI models.
- Your responsibility. You confirm that you have the rights needed to send Your Content and that doing so does not infringe anyone's privacy, confidentiality or intellectual property. Use what you create for your own study.
- Shared links. If you share a quiz with a link, anyone who has the link can see it.
- Privacy. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything illegal, or to process content in breach of other people's privacy, intellectual property or confidentiality;
- send unlawful or abusive content, or content that exploits or harms minors;
- use Synt to cheat in an exam or assessment, or in breach of the rules of your school, university or exam board;
- try to get around usage limits, payments or security measures, or access the Service by automated means other than the app or the website;
- copy, reverse engineer, resell or build a competing service from Synt, except where the law expressly allows it;
- interfere with the Service or its infrastructure, or send malicious software.
We may suspend or limit access if you seriously or repeatedly breach these rules, giving you notice first when reasonable.
9. AI results
Summaries, quizzes, flashcards, plans and other results are generated automatically with AI and may contain mistakes, omissions or inaccuracies, or leave out something important. They are offered as a study aid and do not replace your course materials, your teachers or official sources. Check them before relying on them, especially for an exam. We do not guarantee that the results are accurate, complete or suitable for a specific purpose, nor any particular academic result.
10. Our intellectual property
The app, the websites, their design, code, texts, logos and trademarks belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use Synt on devices you own or control, and its web version from your browser, as allowed by the App Store or Google Play terms and these terms. This licence does not transfer any ownership to you.
If you believe content processed through the Service infringes your rights, write to info@synt.app with the details and we will look into it promptly.
11. Availability and changes
We work to keep Synt available and working well, but we cannot guarantee that it will always work without interruptions or errors, for example during maintenance or outages of third-party providers. We may update the app; some updates may be needed to keep using it.
12. Liability
We are responsible for providing the Service as described in these terms and in accordance with consumer law. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, for losses caused by your breach of these terms, for decisions you make based on AI results without checking them, or for losses due to events beyond our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or your rights as a consumer.
If you use Synt for business or professional purposes, to the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.
13. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Synt at any time by cancelling your subscription (section 4) and deleting the app. You can also ask us to delete your account and your data as explained in our Privacy Policy: for now, by emailing info@synt.app. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. We may end or suspend the Service for you if you seriously breach these terms. If we stop offering Synt altogether, we will let you know in advance when possible and active subscriptions will not renew.
14. Apple and Google
These terms are an agreement between you and us, not with Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for Synt or its content and have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
If you downloaded Synt from the App Store: Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we change the Service or the law changes. We will publish the new version here with its date and, if the changes are significant, we will let you know in the app or on the website with reasonable notice. If you do not agree, you can stop using Synt and cancel your subscription before the change takes effect.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live. Any dispute may be brought before the courts of your place of residence. There is no mandatory arbitration.
If you have a problem, please write to us first at info@synt.app: we will try to solve it quickly.
17. General
If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest remains in force. If we do not enforce a term, that does not mean we waive it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer them to another entity that continues to provide the Service (for example, a company we set up), without reducing your rights. These terms are available in several languages; the English version is the reference version.
